Mark Hillery Music Studios
Durham
On behalf of Durham University, Link MEP worked alongside GSS Architecture, Jasper Kerr Consulting and recording studios specialist, Miloco, to produce a state-of-the-art facility.
Fully coordinated in a BIM environment, a major focus was placed upon the acoustic detail of the services to ensure the best possible result for a space which includes practice rooms, vocal booth and a control room, amongst others.
Tyne Bridge House
Gateshead
Split over 3 levels, the stunning office space with equally impressive views is positioned on Bottle Bank, Gateshead.
Appointed by Adderstone Group for development and in a design team with Intersect Architects and JC Consulting, the end result was a modern office space overlooking the river Tyne.
STC Coroners Court
South Shields
Working with the Architects Group (SBA), we produced the designs for a refurbishment and upgrade of the existing coroners court for South Tyneside Council.
All temporary and permanent works had to factor in maintaining a live site for the client and ensuring the phasing provided minimal disruption.
The Yard
Sunderland
Located on the corner of Keel Square, Sunderland, this former police station was converted into flexible, modern office space, gym and meeting facilities.
The team consisting of Turner and Townsend, Ryder Architecture and Jasper Kerr Consulting produced the designs for this amazing transformation on behalf of Hanro Group.
St Wilfrids RC College
South Shields
This extension to an existing school provided invaluable extra teaching space and additional dining area for the Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust.
The brief including utilising low carbon and renewable technologies to ensure a space which has a low impact on the environment, supported by a fabric first approach from the design team. This successful project was delivered alongside Atkins Realis, Space Architects and Jasper Kerr Consulting.
Essity DAF Building

Appointed by global hygiene and health company, Essity, we produced a design that enabled the fit-out of the process equipment of this water treatment building following practical completion.
Coordination and communication was key between the design team of Link MEP, Turner and Townsend, GSS Architecture and Jasper Kerr Consulting, along with the clients process team.
QE Hospital, Sunniside Ward
Gateshead
As part of a demand for additional space for an existing ward, an current building on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead site was identified for a extension which would meet the requirements. The proposal from Ryder Architecture was to form one common entrance for the 2 separate wards and the challenge was to extend the systems of a live ward adjacent.
Working with the rest of the team including Atkins Realis and Jasper Kerr Consulting, we kept QE Facilities team and clinicians informed along the way so key decisions could be made. The new facility allows the ward to provide care to more older patients with mental health conditions.

Working with the Architects Group (AKA) we refurbished an existing Jacqui Patersons veterinary practice to include further consultation spaces, wards, kennels and a lift to enable the animal patients to be moved between floors comfortably.
Co-op Academy Belle Vue

Appointed by Integral UK Ltd, we took the RIBA Stage 3 designs and developed them from contractors proposals through to installation drawings for the onsite work with Sir Robert McAlpine.
Coordination with Space Architects and BDP (Civil and Structural) was critical for turning the concepts into reality for this 1,200 pupil, DfE compliant, teaching facility.
PSDS
Newcastle upon-Tyne
On behalf of Newcastle City Council, Link MEP were asked to undertake a technical advisors role for a number of public sector decarbonisation schemes with Thornton Firkin.
The project was split across 2 contracts and included the installation of air source heat pumps, solar PV, LED lighting and fabric upgrades to reduce the carbon footprint on a number of properties. The PSDS funded project included improvements to schools, leisure facilities and council offices.
Opencast
Newcastle upon-Tyne
The refurbishment of an existing space at Hoults Yard provided a new office for Opencast with stunning working, meeting and breakout spaces.
The workplace was designed alongside Xsite Architecture and Studio KIND and delivered the additional workstations for the client in a stylish environment.
Norton Rose Fulbright
Newcastle upon-Tyne
Forming a design team including Turner and Townsend, along with GT3 Architects, the project involved the refurbishment of some existing floor plates and the acquisition of others.
The upgrade of working spaces including, new meeting areas, upgraded AV, high-end catering facilities and a new internal staircase linking the additional floors. All designs had to be compliant with both the client and landlord specification.
Bedlington Sta. Primary School

Working with Atkins Realis, we produced tender documentation to enable a modular contractor to offer a turnkey solution for the additional teaching space.
Our role consisted of reviewing the contractors design and installation for our client, Northumberland County Council.
James Barber House

Working to the requirements of the Durham University Building Services Engineering specification, we produced designs to refurbish the existing student accommodation, improving the carbon footprint of the building at the same time.
Alongside Atkins Realis and GSS Architecture, the improvements included air source heat pumps, solar PV and LED lighting in what was a full replacement of services.
